PIGEON HUNTS IN ARGENTINA
|
PIGEON SHOOTING IN ARGENTINAThis kind of hunt counts with great amount of followers among the people who visit to us, attracted by the so large size of this species and to the elegant flight which characterizes them. In spite of having a great abundance of these birds, this hunting is different of dove shooting since it is common to use decoys to attract them and it is not hunted without limit of pieces as in the case of doves. The most common species are the Picazuro pigeon (Columba picazuro) and the Spot-winged Pigeon (Columba maculosa). Our hunting region has a good population of pigeons although we are able to find them in great concentrations during certain times of the year which are mostly when the autumn harvests take place. During the rest of the year their hunt is possible baiting them especially so that they return to join themselves.
