Q: can we just use the same choke for both doves and ducks or do we need to swap out for ducks specifically
That's an excellent question about optimizing your hunt! For the best results and ethical hunting, it is generally recommended to use different chokes for doves and ducks.
• Doves: Given their incredible speed and often closer ranges, a more open choke like an Improved Cylinder or Skeet is typically preferred. This allows for a wider shot pattern, making it easier to connect with fast-moving targets.
• Ducks: When hunting ducks, especially over water or at longer distances, a tighter choke like a Modified or even a Full choke is often more effective. This concentrates the shot pattern for increased range and stopping power.
