Looking for a target faster and smarter than a dove? The Monk Parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus) is a bright green, fast-flying parakeet that builds massive communal nests. They are a plague to local crops, offering a unique "pest control" hunting experience.
Note: Parakeet hunting is not a guaranteed daily activity. It is a specialized hunt available upon request for groups looking to add variety to their Dove or Mixed Bag program.
How to Book a Parakeet Hunt
Since Parakeets move their feeding grounds frequently, this hunt requires specific scouting in advance. We must know beforehand if your group is interested in chasing the "Green Plague".
It is typically organized as a combo hunt: We usually combine a morning Duck or Dove hunt with an afternoon Parakeet shoot near the nesting trees (roosts). It is the perfect way to spice up a standard high-volume itinerary.

The Shot
Parakeets are smaller and more erratic than doves. They screech loudly and dive-bomb fast. It is a challenging shot that requires quick reflexes.
Recommended Gear
They are tough birds. We recommend tighter chokes and #7 or #7.5 shot. Your standard 20-gauge dove gun works perfectly.
No Limits
Just like doves, Monk Parakeets are considered an invasive pest in agriculture. There are zero bag limits, allowing you to help the farmers while enjoying the sport.
