Q: choke recommendations for doves vs ducks what's the general thinking there

AWS EXPERT REPLY
That's an excellent question, and understanding choke recommendations is key for optimizing your success with different bird species!

For doves, especially with the incredible high-volume hunting we offer at AWS Lodge in Argentina, most hunters prefer more open chokes. Skeet, Improved Cylinder (IC), or Light Modified (LM) are generally recommended. These chokes provide a wider shot pattern, which is ideal for the fast-flying doves and allows for quick, instinctive shooting and easier follow-up shots. Our professional guides are experts in the field and can assist you with gun selection and choke recommendations on-site to match the day's conditions and your shooting style.

For ducks, which are typically larger, more resilient birds and often shot at varying ranges, a tighter pattern is usually desired. Modified (M) or Full (F) chokes are common choices. If you're using steel shot, which patterns tighter than lead, you might even consider an Improved Cylinder or Light Modified, but Modified is a versatile starting point for many duck hunting scenarios.

At AWS Lodge, we offer both dedicated high-volume dove hunts and comprehensive mixed bag programs that include ducks and perdiz, ensuring you have the perfect setup for whichever experience you choose.
