Q: clothing recs for winter (june-august) what should we pack for the cold

AWS EXPERT REPLY
That's a great question! Argentina's winter, from June to August, can be quite crisp, especially during early mornings and evenings in the field. To ensure your comfort and enjoyment, we highly recommend a layering system for your hunting trip with AWS Lodge.

Here’s what we suggest packing for the cold:

Base Layers: Start with moisture-wicking thermal underwear (tops and bottoms) made of merino wool or synthetic materials. These will keep you warm and dry by pulling sweat away from your skin.
Mid Layers: A warm fleece jacket, a down vest, or a wool sweater works perfectly over your base layer for added insulation.
Outer Layers: A good quality, waterproof and windproof hunting jacket and pants are essential. Look for insulated options if you tend to get cold easily. These will protect you from any potential rain or strong winds.
Headwear: A warm hat (beanie or wool cap) is crucial, as a lot of body heat is lost through the head.
Hands: Insulated, waterproof gloves are a must for comfort in the field.
Feet: Pack several pairs of thick, warm wool or synthetic socks. Waterproof hunting boots are highly recommended to keep your feet dry and warm throughout the day.
Casual Lodge Wear: For evenings at the lodge, bring comfortable clothes like jeans, sweaters, and a lighter jacket. Our lodge is always warm and cozy, but it's nice to have options.

Remember, layering allows you to adjust to changing temperatures throughout the day, from the chilly mornings to warmer afternoons in the sun, and then back to cooler evenings.

"Honestly the best wingshooting trip of my life. The high-volume dove shooting is exactly as advertised - non-stop action. The lodge is luxurious and the staff makes you feel like family."

"I was skeptical about the 'no internal flights' claim, but it's true. Landed in BA and was hunting by the afternoon. The mixed bag program allowed me to hunt ducks and perdiz in the same trip. Top notch."

"The food alone is worth the trip. The asados in the field were incredible. If you are looking for a luxury lodge near Buenos Aires, this is the one. Can't wait to return next season."
