Q: for chokes, do you guys have separate recommendations for doves and ducks or can i stick with something common for both
That's a great question regarding chokes for your hunt!
For doves, which are fast and abundant, a more open choke like Improved Cylinder (IC) or Skeet is generally recommended. This allows for a wider shot pattern, increasing your chances of hitting these quick birds at closer ranges.
For ducks, which are often shot at longer distances and require more penetration, a tighter choke like Modified (M) or Full (F) is typically preferred. This keeps the shot pattern denser for better reach and knockdown power.
Many hunters bring multiple chokes and change them depending on the species they are targeting. If you're planning a mixed bag hunt, you might find yourself switching between them.
