Q: for doves vs ducks do u guys usually suggest different chokes or is there like a good all-around one that works for both
That's a great question! While there isn't a single "perfect" all-around choke for both doves and ducks that provides optimal performance in every scenario, many hunters find a Modified (MOD) choke to be a versatile choice if they need to use one for both.
• For doves, which are typically fast-moving and shot at closer ranges, more open chokes like Skeet, Improved Cylinder (IC), or Light Modified (LM) are often preferred. These allow for a wider shot pattern, making it easier to hit agile birds.
• For ducks, especially when hunting over decoys or at longer ranges, tighter chokes like Modified (MOD), Improved Modified (IM), or Full are generally recommended. These provide denser patterns to ensure clean kills on tougher, larger birds.
