For a trip to Argentina in January, most nationalities, including US citizens, do not require a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days. Argentina eliminated the reciprocity fee for US citizens a few years ago, so you won't need to pay that. You simply need a valid passport that is current for at least six months beyond your intended stay.
