Q: how much cash should i bring for tipping the bird boys and the lodge staff for my august trip, like what's the recommended amount

AWS EXPERT REPLY
Gratuities are discretionary and should reflect the service received. The current AWS Lodge guideline is a minimum of US$50 per hunter, per hunting day, for the dedicated field assistant (bird boy or secretario); many guests choose around US$100 for exceptional service. For the lodge staff, the guideline is US$50 per hunter, per day, pooled among the team. Gratuities are separate from the program price, and the lodge manager should reconfirm the guideline before arrival in case operational recommendations have changed. To calculate the US-dollar cash to bring, multiply the applicable daily guideline by the number of hunters and service days shown in the confirmed itinerary.
