Q: recommended clothing for winter june-august is that like layers or are we talking heavy jackets
For winter hunting in Argentina, specifically during June, July, and August, you should definitely plan on layers, but also bring a heavy jacket.
While our days are often sunny, mornings and evenings can be quite chilly, especially in the field. Temperatures can range from around 30°F (-1°C) in the early morning to 60°F (15°C) or even higher during the peak of the day.
Here’s what we typically recommend:
• Base Layers: Moisture-wicking thermal underwear (tops and bottoms) is essential.
• Mid-Layers: Fleece jackets, sweaters, or down vests work perfectly to add warmth without bulk.
• Outer Layer: A good quality, waterproof and windproof hunting jacket is crucial. A heavy, insulated jacket is recommended for those early mornings and late evenings.
• Pants: Insulated hunting pants or warm trousers are advisable. Many guests wear a thermal base layer under their hunting pants.
• Accessories: Don't forget a warm hat (beanie), gloves, and comfortable, waterproof hunting boots.
