For ducks, which are often engaged at longer ranges or over decoys, you'll typically want a tighter pattern to maintain density at distance. A Modified (M) or Improved Modified (IM) choke is commonly used for duck hunting.

While you *can* use a single, more versatile choke like a Modified for both, it would be a compromise.
