Q: what choke recs do you have for doves and ducks, like is it different for each or can i use one for both
That's a great question about optimizing your shot!
For doves, given the incredible volume and often closer ranges in Argentina, most hunters prefer more open chokes. An Improved Cylinder (IC) or Light Modified (LM) choke is generally recommended. These chokes provide a wider pattern, which can be very effective for hitting fast-flying doves at typical distances, allowing for quick follow-up shots.
For ducks, which are often engaged at longer ranges or over decoys, you'll typically want a tighter pattern to maintain density at distance. A Modified (M) or Improved Modified (IM) choke is commonly used for duck hunting.
While you *can* use a single, more versatile choke like a Modified for both, it would be a compromise. An Improved Cylinder might work for closer duck shots and doves, but you'd lose some effective range for ducks. Conversely, a Modified might be a bit tight for the highest volume dove shooting. For optimal performance, many hunters prefer to change chokes depending on the specific species they are targeting that day.
