Q: what's the deal with global rescue vs normal travel insurance for the trip is one mandatory
Hello! That's an excellent question, and it highlights an important aspect of planning an international hunting trip with us.
Global Rescue specializes in medical evacuation and field rescue services. This means that if you experience a medical emergency or injury while in the field, they will coordinate and execute your rescue and transport you to the nearest appropriate medical facility, or even back home if necessary. For a hunting trip like ours, which involves being in remote areas, this type of specialized coverage is highly recommended for your safety and peace of mind. It's designed specifically for situations where you might need to be extracted from a non-hospital environment.
Normal travel insurance, on the other hand, typically covers things like trip cancellation or interruption, lost luggage, flight delays, and general medical expenses *not* related to evacuation or specialized field rescue. While also beneficial for protecting your investment in the trip, it usually doesn't provide the same level of specialized field rescue and medical evacuation that Global Rescue does.
From AWS Lodge's perspective, neither Global Rescue nor standard travel insurance is strictly mandatory for your booking. However, we strongly advise all our guests to secure Global Rescue coverage due to the nature of our activities and the potential need for specialized medical assistance or evacuation from the field. Many of our guests choose to purchase both for comprehensive protection.
